JW Cart encounter
by Listener ini've seen very few carts in western australia.
the only one i have seen is near the front entrance of the perth royal hospital and on the several occasions that i have seen it, they are there all day, at least during the week.
i've stopped and had long conversations twice now and both times when i have approached them they've told me to take whatever publications interest me and then we've started talking.this last visit i brought up the royal commission.

Well handled Listener. J.W.'s need to be encouraged to seriously consider what they are told by the org - and not just swallow it and regurgitate it for others.
If ever any J.W. repeats the org's mantra - "that they are told to call the Branch for instructions," I will simply ask them;
"If a non-J.W. raped your child or wife, if your house caught fire, or if you suffered a heart-attack, would your instincts tell you to 'phone Bethel for advice? Any decent human being knows exactly who they would contact immediately in such situations!"

Should a JW accept Veteran payments?
by Tantalon inhello people,.
i was born in but long time faded.
i think i hold current jws to a higher standard than they now maintain.. here's the thing; my father is very old, in his nineties and been a jdub for over 60 years and even made it to elder till he got too old.on a recent visit my siblings and dad were saying how wonderful that veterans affairs were.

J.W.'s in Russia are accepting awards from the man who has just vilified and banned their religion!
How insane is that?????????????
The Warwick H.Q. of J.W.'s sanctioned and encouraged the parents to accept the award - I'd bet my house on it! There's no way the Russian elders or the Branch would have cleared this - they'd have passed such a precarious decision up the pyramid to the "glorious ones" in N.Y. state.
They in turn saw it as an excellent propaganda opportunity - and used it as such!

Hello again
by BlackWolf inhello everyone, it's been a while since i've posted anything on here so i thought i might give an update.

If you don't want to move out, just bite your tongue - with all of your family.
You shouldn't have a problem with your parents wanting to shun you, as long as you don't raise any apostate/atheist flags. Just act like their loving son who's simply "weakened & fallen away."
If you don't rock the boat, you can carry on sailing with your parents and siblings. I wish you well.

Who's got it wrong - the Bible or the "faithful slave?"
by The Searcher inaccording to the self-proclaimed "faithful and discreet slave" of jehovah's witnesses, all sorts of evil things are going to be allowed to occur during christ's 1000 year reign!
it-2 p. 789 resurrection - "they are judged, not on what they did before hearing his voice, but on what they do after hearing it.

Waton - :)
The alleged new scrolls is the only dogma which my closest friends in the org (former elder & wife) ever seriously questioned out of everything I discussed with them! They were dismayed to see that the scrolls were not opened during the millennium as the G.B. claims - but they still refuse to doubt the "golden calf's" divine appointment. Sigh.

I take your point DrearyWeather, but there is a huge difference between "turning some persons away from serving Jehovah" and "the practicing of vile things."
The latter scenario does not present a credible picture of the paradise which is preached by J.W.'s - a depiction which the vast majority of J.W.'s have not yet absorbed.

According to the self-proclaimed "faithful and discreet slave" of Jehovah's Witnesses, all sorts of evil things are going to be allowed to occur during Christ's 1000 year reign!
it-2 p. 789 Resurrection - "They are judged, not on what they did before hearing his voice, but on what they do after hearing it.
re chap. 41 p. 300 par. 16 - "Here "life" and "judgment" contrast with each other, showing that those resurrected ones who "practiced vile things" after being instructed in the inspired Scriptures and scrolls are judged to be unworthy of life.
rs p. 338 par. 1 Resurrection - "Both those who formerly did good things and those who formerly practiced bad things will be "judged individually according to their deeds." What deeds? Jesus was pointing ahead to the resurrection; then, in the remainder of verse 29, he was expressing the outcome after they had been uplifted to human perfection and been put on judgment."
bh p. 214 par. 3 - "No, the judgment will not focus on what people did before they died. How do we know that? The Bible says: "The one who has died has been acquitted from his sin." (Romans 6:7) ...........Thus, individuals will be judged on the basis of what they do during Judgment Day."
uw chap. 9 p. 76 par. 12 Power of the Resurrection Hope - They will be "judged individually according to their deeds" performed after their resurrection.
w82 4/1 p. 25 par. 18 The Kingdom and the Resurrection Hope - Both "those who did good things" and "those who practiced vile things" will be among "those dead" who will be "judged individually according to their deeds" performed after their resurrection.
w78 9/1 p. 22 par. 9 A Resurrection of Life and One of Judgment - the resurrected ones......will either turn to the course of doing good things or turn to the practicing of vile things.
So much for the org's promised "paradise conditions" and the Bible saying that Jesus Christ will be a "Prince of Peace" ruling with an iron rod! (Isaiah 9:6; Revelation 2:27; 12:5)

Whats in it for them?
by Moster ini have been out for nearly 40 years now - baptized at 14 (although not to the org), but faded away.
but i am wondering about this:.
aside from the obvious power they wield, what's is in it for the gb?

They live & travel like royalty, and are revered wherever they go.
They are self-serving, self-proclaimed, and self-selected G.O.D.'s (guardians of doctrine)
If any one of them denies the scriptural proof against the org's blatantly false teachings, they are either downright liars or more stupid than any of us ever gave them credit for!

Wanting Less Involvement (long newbie story)
by DepthsResounding ini was raised a jw and am currently pioneer in a foreign language congregation.
i have been unhappy on and off with my involvement in this religion and am ready to step back again.
growing up i was always active but extremely reserved and a low hour publisher.

DepthsResounding - welcome. I hope that some of the advice offered to you is helpful when you decide exactly what route you are going to take.
One of the biggest issues which a person like yourself will have to consider (IMHO) is finding a like-minded partner - someone whose beliefs/practices/standards in life are not going to be seriously objectionable to you.
For fading/ex-JW's who "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater," making the wrong choice could result in a lot of upset for both parties. Best wishes for your future.
